Data Changelog

This log lists material corrections and surface changes PlainSalary applied after publication. Each entry is past-tense and tied to a repository commit or the ETL _metadata stamp; we do not invent rows to pad the list. How to report an issue is on the editorial & corrections policy and the typed corrections pathway. This public log starts on 2026-06-15. Data current as of 2026-06-15.

Download the compiled take-home extract: take-home-pay-by-state.csv (same extract as /statistics).

  1. · Data surface

Added effective tax-burden ranking boards so $100K state income-tax dollars sit beside statutory top rates instead of treating the two signals as one list.

  2. · Index-surface

Burned down /states/* chrome (PageTrust/ShareBar/scatter cut; H2s converted by burden tercile) under the rendered-similarity REJECT fence.

  3. · Citability

Attached Dataset + DataDownload for the take-home-pay-by-state CSV on the noindex /research hub so the extract stays machine-discoverable without expanding the index surface.

  4. · Data integrity

Replaced the homepage $100k tax-cascade typed constants with live-derived values from state_burden + FICA tables so the hero stages match the calculator math.

  5. · Citability

Shipped Dataset + CiteThis on /corrections so the corrections pathway itself cites the same take-home CSV as the identity pages.

  6. · Citability

Added CiteThis APA/MLA blocks and the public take-home-pay-by-state.csv DataDownload on hubs, rankings, guides, research, tools, and statistics (state detail skipped under sim REJECT).

  7. · Citability

Shipped shareable OG cards on /states/{slug} and /calculator with dual corpus ranks ($100k state tax vs top statutory rate) drawn from state_burden / states.top_rate.

  8. · Index-surface

Converted soft-404 hub redirects on unknown state detail paths into real HTTP 404 + noindex so retired or empty slugs stop looking like valid US tax pages.

  9. · Data refresh

Rebuilt the SQLite extract (rebuild_completed 2026-06-15T13:59:00Z in _metadata) carrying IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32 federal brackets, SSA 2026 FICA wage base, and 2026 state Department of Revenue schedules.
